Music Competition!

The Classical Music Development Foundation

of Trinidad and Tobago

invites classically singers to participate in our fourth annual music competition for tertiary level students of music. 



This competition will be held on July 2nd 2016 at

the Queens Hall, with the aim to encourage music students

who are seriously pursuing advancement in their musical education, as well as to highlight to the public their hard work and achievement.

Daniel DeCranie-Pierre, a promising young baritone who hails from Sangre Grande was adjudged first place winner of the 2015 CMDFTT Music Competition. A vocal major at SUNY Plattsburgh, Daniel's performance credits include Don Alphonso (Cosi fan tutte), Papageno (Magic Flute), Buffo (Impressario) and Curley (Oklahoma). He has also been the recipient of the Neil Latchman Bursury and the winner of Championship trophies in the 16-19 Boy's Vocal Solo and Religious Contemporary Solo at the 2011 T&T Music Festival. He was nominated by his university to compete in the Kennedy Center American 2016 College Theater Festival and won the Regional leg of that competition. We wish him the best in the upcoming regional final and in the Broadway Theater Project Summer Training Program at University of South Florida to which he was awarded a scholarship.

 

 

Maegan Pollonais, mezzo-soprano who was a joint winner of the 2014 CMDFTT Music Competition was recently awarded the top prize in the Voice Competition at Ball State University where she is a currently working on her doctorate. Her past awards include the Louise H Heisler Music Scholarship, Graduating Student Award in Jazz Performance, Outstanding Overall Performer and the Mehan Myrtle and Molony Scholars Award from SUNY Plattsburgh where she recieved a Bachelor's degree in Sociology as well as Music. She continued her education at Bowling Green State University where she attaned a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance and was awarded the Winifred O Stone Presidential Graduate Student Scholarship. Her performance credits include Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Marchellina (Marriage of Figaro), Lady Blanche and Ruth (Pirates of Penzance) and is looking forward to singing the role of Nicklaus at the T&T Opera Festival production of Tales of Hoffmann this July.
